Christina I am losing my mind! Those gossamer, purple fairy wings are so familiar – the seventh picture. I have nothing but seedlings in my little plot, so help me remember…
Lucy: Thank you. Have a wonderful time on your trip.
Carrie: It's Spanish lavender. It doesn't smell as nice as French or English lavender, but I looooooooove the way that it looks. I hope your seedlings continue to grow well.
It's still raining here and the 90 pounds of seed taters waiting for a bed are beginning to wrinkle as they sprout. (sigh) The onions, are they 'top-set' or 'walking' onions?
Spanish lavender? Interesting. I'm sure that I've seen it because I recognized those beautiful, delicate "wings" and remembered being enchanted by them. Great picture, by the way. My seedlings are a little waterlogged - we've had rain, rain, rain here in DC.
Say What?: Sigh indeed. I hope it dries up for you soon, though the news makes it sound dreadful. Yes, those are Egyptian Walking Onions. They're in a different bed and free from disease--would you like some bulbils once they begin to dry this summer?
The Good Soup: Almost there, almost there, almost there . . . when I'm away from my garden an extended amount of time, no matter how much I'm enjoying myself, there's that mantra in the back of my head.
Carrie: Ugh, a rainy DC spring? How infuriating! Spring in DC is supposed to be a time of ABSOLUTE beauty, or at least that's how I remember all my springs in DC. I hope it dries for you soon.
Thanks for the offer of onions Christina, but I'll pass this year. I'd like to go commercial with garlic, at least locally, and my guru has advised me to keep onions away from my garlic if at all possible. Once we've got the acre worked up and have some clue as to what we're doing I'd like to plant onions in the old garden.
DW and I pulled weeds in the garlic bed this evening. We also pulled some garlic scallions I plan to use in a stir fry soon. First garlic of the year! Yum!!
